Bollywood Hungama had earlier reported how Shahid Kapoor was willing to forgo his acting fees to safeguard Jersey for theatrical medium. The actor stood by his commitment and is bringing the film on the big screen on April 14. The actor, who had initially charged around Rs. 31 crores for the film, did take a pay cut eventually as the release was delayed at the last minute due to the Omicron scare. And now, we have another exclusive scoop.

According to our highly placed trade sources, Shahid Kapoor has upped his acting fees yet again. The talented actor, riding high on the success of Padmaavat and Kabir Singh is expecting big gains from Jersey too, and for the film that’s a follow up to Jersey, has charged 25% more. “Shahid Kapoor has come on board this action-packed thriller directed by Ali Abbas Zafar for a massive sum of Rs. 38 crores. This is around 25% more than Jersey and more than twice of what he had fetched for the game changer, Kabir Singh. He is in-fact, adopting the route of letting his work talk for his worth,” the trade source informed Bollywood Hungama.

The motto of letting work talk for his worth has a unique meaning for Shahid. “Every success would mean acting fees going up, and every failure would mean the acting fees coming down. It’s a dynamic pricing strategy that he has designed, and at this point of time, he is confident for both Jersey and Ali Abbas Zafar’s next to fetch big returns at the box office. If the film succeeds, his asking price for the one after that would increase even further,” the source told us.

He is discussing the Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj biopic with Ashwin Varde now, and it is expected to proceed towards the official paperwork stage soon.

The much-loved romcom Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa completed 28 years on February 25. Bollywood Hungama exclusively interviewed the actress in this film, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and revealed the 28-year-old hidden secret that Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar had designed the costumes of the character. Now, Bollywood Hungama caught up with the talented Deepak Tijori. He played a crucial part in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer and is one of the most memorable films in his long career. Read on to find out what does he have to say about the film.

What comes to your mind when I say Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa?
Director Kundan Shah comes to my mind first. I remember the makers had finished all the casting of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and I was still not a part of it. They were looking for an actor to play Chris and Kundan insisted that I should come on board. I remember I was not too sure whether I want to be a part of it. I was running away from Kundan but he was very persuasive. He told me, ‘Ek baar script padh le’. I finally did it and I was completely blown away. I then said ‘yes’ to the project immediately.

How was the experience of shooting for the film?
We shot the film in Goa and we were all friends. So, it was like party time for us. Shooting mein humko kaafi time khaali milta tha. Ashutosh Gowariker and I used to chat a lot and it was during our conversation that the germ of Ashu’s film Pehla Nasha (1993) took shape. Ashu had expressed a desire to make the film. I told him that we’ll work on it after returning to Mumbai. Obviously, we didn’t know Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa would become what it has become today. I’ll always be proud of that film.

The film was made on a tight budget. Did that pose a challenge?
Yes, it was challenging in all respects, from the stay to transport. However, the producer – Vikram Mehrotra – was very sweet and was clear about the situation. Toh kaise kaise karke hum logon ne film banayi. I remember costume designer Sutapa had to work around the budget that was provided to her. So, everyone was doing their best. With a lot of crunches, we managed to pull it off. We used to also be scared that the film might get stalled mid-way or after the shoot. In fact, even after the completion, it stayed in the cans. Later, Shah Rukh took it over and later, the film was able to see the light of the day.

As per IMDb, Shah Rukh Khan’s role was initially offered to you…
No, he was already a part of the film. See, Shah Rukh, Kundan, Aziz Mirza, Saeed Mirza and Sudhir Mishra were all one clan. I was always worried ki ‘boss, main ek naye group mein ghus raha hoon…toh mera kya hoga’ (laughs)! However, they were very accommodating and welcoming. It was wonderful.

How was it working with Suchitra Krishnamoorthi?
Suchitra was very new at that time but she was already good in her craft; that was the most beautiful part about it. You fear that ‘nayi ladki hai. Time lag jaayega scenes hone mein’. But she was fabulous. She had also done a series before.

The film is remembered for its unconventional ending. How did people react to it?
Some people who were big fans of Shah Rukh abused the hell out of me! They complained, ‘Saala, isko kyun mil gayi ladki’. The way the makers crafted was that Chris was an ideal boy. Hence, he deserved to win over Anna. However, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa was not the story of the ideal boy. It was the story of the loser. And we like stories of a character turning from a zero to a hero. I guess it was rightly placed as a zero-to-hero film. And of course, he (Shah Rukh Khan) gets a bigger star in the end (Juhi Chawla)! Toh kuch haath se jaata hai tab takleef hoti hai. But there’s a bigger purpose to it, for which you’ll be thankful.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi told us in an exclusive interview that you got nervous during the kissing scene…
(Smiles) I was basically trying to protect her. I was also very new to that particular act. So, I wanted to comfort her and since we were already good acquaintances, I had a lot of respect for her. Hence, I felt that we should get this done more easily. Kundan was also happy with the final outcome.

The wedding ceremony in Delhi was also attended by actors close to the filmmaker including Arjun Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, and Jackky Bhagnani.

On Monday evening, after Luv Ranjan dropped official pictures from their wedding ceremony, Arjun Kapoor, too, took to his Instagram feed to share some pictures from the ceremony. He also shared pictures from the haldi ceremony, In one of the pictures, Ranbir can be seen giving Luv, a peck on the cheek. He also shared a picture of Ranbir looking at the Taj Mahal from the place they were staying at. Arjun, however, tagged Alia Bhatt in the picture.

The audiences will witness never seen action before with Tiger performing a lot of car-based stunts. The Ahmed Khan directorial also stars Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead. Nawazuddin will be seen as the antagonist in the film. The actor will be paying a tribute to actor Vinod Khanna as he had copied the superstar's walk for his character.

Heropanti 2 is slated to release in theaters on the occasion of Eid on April 29, 2022.

Om Raut-directed magnum opus Adipurush now has a new release date. The film that was supposed to be released in theatres on August 11 will now hit the screens on January 12, 2023. It will be the first big release of the year 2023. The film stars Prabhas as Lord Ram and Saif Ali Khan as Raavan with Kriti Sanon as Sita and Sunny Singh starring as Laxman.

On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, the team of Adipurush took to social media to announce the new release date of the film. "#Adipurush Worldwide Theatrical Release in 3D on 12th Jan 2023," wrote Kriti Sanon sharing the announcement.

Adipurush's release date was shifted to make way for Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. A few days back, while announcing the new release date of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir had thanked the team of Adipurush for postponing their film. "This is to announce that our film, Laal Singh Chaddha, will not be releasing on 14th April as planned. This is because we are unable to complete the film in time. The film will now be released on 11 Aug 2022 in theatres worldwide. We would like to thank Mr Bhushan Kumar, T Series, and Om Raut, and the entire team of Adipurush from the bottom of our hearts. We would like to thank them for being so helpful and understanding, and for shifting the release date of their much-awaited, Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, so that Laal Singh Chaddha can come on 11 Aug 2022," the team of Laal Singh Chaddha had shared.

Adipurush is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar of T-Series & Om Raut, Prasad Sutar & Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam in theatres.

Madhuri Dixit's The Fame Game has an eerie resemblance with Britney Spears conservatorship row (SPOILERS AHEAD) https://ift.tt/68QHEtM

The Fame Game, Madhuri Dixit’s much talked about web debut, was finally released on Netflix on Friday, February 25. As evident from the trailer, it tells the story of the sudden disappearance of an actress. The eight-episode-long series touches upon various aspects of Anamika’s life – her bond with her family members, her fading stardom, her love for her co-star etc. The subplots of Anamika’s son, daughter, Anamika’s stalker fan and the lady cop trying to make a mark in a male-dominated world also get prominence in the web series.

However, one track that stands out is that of Anamika’s equation with her mother (Suhasini Mulay). Her mother pulls all the strings and Anamika moves as per her wishes. It was her mom who pushed her into acting, hoping that it’ll change the fortunes of her family. She even compelled Anamika to marry her long-lost cousin, Nikhil More (Sanjay Kapoor), much against the wishes of the actress. Moreover, the mother, along with Nikhil, now even control the finances that Anamika brings to the house. For an outsider, Anamika might seem to be in a position wherein she must be having the freedom to do what she wants. However, in her household, no one even asks her about what she desires. Instead, her mother plans each and every step on her behalf. When she and Nikhil realize that Anamika’s comeback is about to flop, they decide to sell their palatial mansion. Nikhil even books a dance show for her in Dubai for the next months ‘to keep her busy’. Of course, this is also done so that she stays away from her ex-boyfriend, actor Manish Khanna (Manav Kaul). However, her consent is not taken even once. At one point, Anamika rightfully compares herself to the golden goose.

Interestingly, a flashback scene shows an underage Anamika who’s upset with her mother for forcing her into the acting profession. Her kind-hearted helper, Lata, tries to console Anamika by saying that once she grows up, she can do whatever she wants and make her own decisions. Little did Anamika know then that it was never going to happen.

Coincidentally, this intense and disturbing track has an eerie resemblance to that of the Britney Spears conservatorship dispute. It was one of the most talked about events of 2021 and involved pop singer Britney Spears’ fight with her father. For those who were not aware, her finances and personal life were controlled by her father, James Spears for 13 years, under a form of legal guardianship called a conservatorship. This was happening since 2007 after she started behaving erratically post her divorce, and after she lost custody of her two children. She shaved her head, assaulted paparazzi with an umbrella and was charged with a hit-and-run, involving a parked car. She was also into rehab multiple times, and thus the conservatorship commenced.

It was in the beginning of 2019 that the public was informed that Britney is facing abuse due to the conservatorship. Soon, #FreeBritney became a routine hashtag on social media and more and more people around the world began speaking about it. The matter went to court and on June 23, 2021, Britney Spears testified that she was forced to work or perform and that she was threatened with lawsuits and lifestyle restrictions if she refused to obey the orders. She further revealed that she was administered drugs like lithium without her consent and she has been prevented from marrying and having a child. Finally, on September 29, 2021, the judge suspended James Spears as the conservator. The conservatorship was terminated with immediate effect on November 12, the same year.

Several documentaries were made on this controversy. New York Times’ Framing Britney Spears played a huge role in making people aware of the conservatorship. Another popular documentary on this row was Britney vs Spears, which was incidentally released on Netflix, just like The Fame Game.

Obviously, The Fame Game didn’t show Anamika under any sort of conservatorship. However, the way she was a puppet in the hands of her parent while from the outside, she seemed to be in control of her life, gave a strong déjà vu of Britney Spears and her struggles.

Maine Pyar Kiya’s star Bhagyashree’s daughter Avantika Dassani has just made an impressive debut in Applause Entertainment’s series Mithya on Zee. Speaking on playing such a complex character so early in her career Avantika says, “I think the excitement took over the nerves when I was getting into Rhea’s skin. It wasn’t easy but challenges and roles like these are what an actor yearns for. Also being a series we didn’t have the luxury of time like you do when you’re shooting a film so there was constant learning, and risks that I took not knowing how it would turn it out, since we didn’t workshop or prep much before shoot, but I’m overwhelmed by the welcoming response towards my performance. I’m also grateful to the whole cast and crew for making me feel comfortable and supported throughout our shoot.”

Avantika says she sought out the part of the creepy Rhea when she heard it was up for grabs. “I was in the middle of different auditions when I heard about the part and thought I should give it a go, because it seemed like an exciting challenge, it was also one of my first zoom auditions and I was nervous but we tested a couple of different things and it clicked immediately. Then when they told me they’d like to sign me on I went through the script, the original BBC series and got a feel of the character.”

She admits to being challenged by the dark complexities of the character. “We did a breakdown of the pros and cons and I won't lie there was a little hesitation because I knew it would be a risky debut, if I got it wrong, I would fall flat on my face, but as an actor I was really excited to be thrown into the deep end in the very beginning because it would allow me to learn, grow and showcase my abilities.”

The young actress recalls being interested in acting from childhood. “I was very interested in the performing arts and the creative space in general as I was growing up. Every time I would watch a movie and fall in love with a character, I would dress up like that, raiding my parents’ closets, getting into my mom’s make-up, and getting myself yelled at for the mess that I created. As I grew up my interest and education steered me in a different direction but Somewhere down the line I began my workshops and went through the process of an actor and I realized how much I love it. And realised that this is what I’m really passionate about and pursued it wholeheartedly.”

Avantika’s mom Bhagyashree is the Maine Pyar Kiya superstar. Her brother Abhimanyu too is an actor. So is acting in Avantika’s DNA? “I don’t know about that, but a lot of my work ethic comes from striving to be even half as talented as them. Which I know comes from relentlessly working, trying and testing things and being open. Growing up we saw that anywhere we go around the world, Mom was showered with love and praise even after 30 years of its release. It is a reminder of the fact that when you do something so amazing, you have the chance to touch people's hearts through your work.”

Avantika is fascinated by the opportunities that have opened up for actors in India. “The landscape of Indian cinema has drastically evolved over the last 2/3 years. Today OTT platforms are where audiences come looking for the most exciting stories, characters and I’m really glad to start my journey by being a part of this change! It’s all about the content. I would want people to concentrate on Avantika Dassani the actor more than anything else whether it's OTT or movies.”

On Monday, the film Judaai starring Sridevi, Urmila Matondkar, and Anil Kapoor in the lead completed 25 years of release. The film sees a woman agreeing to get her husband married off to another woman for money. The film also had several interesting characters actors played by Upasana Singh, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, and Omkar Kapoor. Actor Upasana Singh who played the double role of Seema Bhagat and Vaani Bhagat Jain and was popularised as ‘Abba Dabba Jabba’ girl has registered the phrase as a movie title and will soon start work on it.

Talking to Hindustan Times about being a part of Judaai and how people still remember her for her mute character, Upasana said, "I played the roles of a mother and mute woman, who just says ‘abba dabba jabba’. I was not convinced about it but went with the director’s conviction. I put all my effort into expressing those words with different variations and moods. And it clicked! It made me the ‘abba dabba jabba’ girl. People still remember me for that dialogue and request me to say it. I feel blessed about it. Now, I am making a film titled, Abba Dabba Jabba. I have registered the title, and we are working on the script."

The film Abba Dabba Jabba will star Johnny Lever and Upasana’s son Nanak. She said that their characters were a huge part of the film and she wishes to carry forward the legacy. She also said that the film will take time to shape, but will be made for sure.

Upasana also shared that she had signed the film Judaai without reading the script as she was a huge fan of Sridevi and considered it a big moment to work with the star.

As entertainment returns to the silver screens in all its glory, it’s time for Kangana Ranaut to set the screens on fire. Ranaut’s next, Dhaakad, a mega action entertainer is all set to release on May 27 2022. The multi-lingual Pan-India film was to be released in April but with the third wave hitting the country, the makers decided to shift the release to May. The film will be available in four languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.  This is Ranaut’s second pan India outing after the thunderous success of Thalaivii, based on the life of Jayalalitha.

Dhaakad touted as Bollywood’s first high octane spy thriller led by a female star, the film is made on a lavish budget. In terms of appeal, the film is also the country’s first big-scale multilingual project to be headlined by a female superstar. The actioner led by Ranaut, stars Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutt, and Saswata Chatterjee along with a power-packed ensemble cast.

Kangana Ranaut says, “The film had to be made on a certain scale that had to be tailored to the vast vision of its makers. India has never seen a women action entertainer of this scale. A story as paramount as this should reach maximum eyeballs and I am happy to announce that Dhaakad would be released in multiple languages. I can’t wait for the audience to meet Agent Agni. She will blow their minds with her fury and power.”

Producer Deepak Mukut adds, “We envisioned Dhaakad as a film that’s at par with international action films. We got a female superstar to headline it creates a new norm. Powerhouse performers Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah have collaborated for the first time for the film Jalsa directed by Suresh Triveni of Tumhari Sulu fame. The film sees Vidya Balan play the role of a journalist while Shefali Shah plays a cook. On Monday, the makers dropped the first look of Vidya and Shefali from the film. The film will have a direct to digital release on Amazon Prime Video on March 18.

Jalsa is a social drama-thriller about class differences in society and sees Vidya Balan sharing screen space with the power-packed performer Shefali Shah. In the film, Vidya plays the role of a TV news anchor, while Shefali portrays the character of her cook.

Kangana Ranaut hosted reality show Lock Upp backed by Ekta Kapoor premiered on ALT Balaji and MX Player on February 27. Before the grand premiere of the show, the makers had revealed the names of five out of the 16 controversial contestants of the show. On the night of the premiere, every contestant was introduced individually and as promised, the contestants are controversial celebrities who have grabbed headlines in the recent past for not the best reasons.

Nisha Rawal: Nisha was in the news in the past year after she accused her then-husband Karan Mehra of physical assault and an extramarital affair. Munawar Faruqui: The stand-up comedian had made headlines after he was imprisoned for a month in January 2021 after a BJP MLA's son accused him of hurting religious sentiments in one of his stand-up shows. Later in the year, several of his live shows in Bengaluru were cancelled amid protests by Hindu right-wing outfits.

After wrapping up her shoot for director Laxman Utekar’s next with Vicky Kaushal, Sara will now start filming for Pawan Kripalani’s next titled Gaslight, also starring Chitrangda Singh and Vikrant Massey.

On Sunday, Sara Ali Khan flew to Rajkot as a major chunk of the movie will be shot there. “Sara is quite excited to start shooting for the movie and she will be stationed in Morbi and will be shooting at Wankaner in Rajkot. It will be interesting to see Sara share the screen space opposite Vikrant and Chitrangda Singh for the first time," said a source close to the project.

Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana delivered a landmark performance of his career in the unanimously lauded Dum Laga Ke Haisha (DLKH) which made a statement about the need for body positivity and told society to not colour people with stereotypes which become a hindrance for love to grow. On the 7th anniversary of the film, the poster boy of content cinema in India today, speaks about how DLKH taught him the biggest lesson of his career.

Ayushmann says, "My journey in cinema has been filled with learnings and have been lucky enough to chance upon great mentors and incredible scripts. When I debuted with Vicky Donor, I was lucky to have found someone like Shoojit Sircar who guided me and shaped me as a performer and a hero. I became an overnight star and trust me, no one can prepare you for it! You do feel slightly lost when such an overwhelming moment arrives. I have to admit that I didn’t know what hit me. I didn’t know which films to choose and which ones to avoid. I didn’t have a direction on how to handle my career."

Ayushmann saw a lean patch after the stupendous success of Vicky Donor but he course-corrected himself with Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Shanaya, Suhana, and Ananya were papped as they entered a restaurant in Bandra. While Shanaya arrived alone, Suhana and Ananya arrived at the restaurant together. For their night out, Suhana opted for a cold-shoulder white blouse paired with black pants while Ananya wore a short sky blue dress. Meanwhile, Shanaya looked stunning in a short white cut-out dress.
