After giving quality performances in a number of films, she also got married to fellow actor Ranbir Kapoor and gave birth to their daughter Raha later in the year. During the launch of this year’s Zee Cine Awards, Alia opened up about her priorities in life, now that she is a mother. When asked about her life currently, the actress said, “I am a take-each-day kind of a person. I will take it one day at a time and will definitely give it my best. But definitely, priorities have changed. My number one priority in my life is my daughter, who I love deeply. My next love, or next to next or actually my first love is movies and cinema and working. I will try my best and maybe it will be quality over quantity, jo buri baat nahin hai (which is not a bad thing).” Last year, Alia struck gold with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva and her cameo in SS Rajamouli’s global hit RRR. The actress revealed in the same conversation that during this year’s Zee Cine Awards, she would be performing on songs from these three films – ‘Dholida,’ ‘Kesariya’ and ‘Nacho Nacho’ respectively. “It’s been one of my most special years and these songs are the biggest hits of my career. I cannot reveal much but it will be an act that I have not done before,” added Alia. Riding high on the success of Pathaan, filmmaker Siddharth Anand has now given two back-to-back blockbusters. After War and Pathaan, he has become the undisputed number-one director of his genre in India. But, the film did face its fair share of controversies especially when boycott calls were made after ‘Besharam Rang’ was released. What they were trying to do with Pathaan was just ridiculous and the audience has given its verdict. There’s been such an outpouring of love – they came in wanting to like the film and not to judge it.” Talking about the recent surge of South movies doing really well in the North market and how Pathaan has broken several records, he added, “We’ve captured all four quadrants, families are going in large numbers, men, women, youth audience, across both multiplexes and single screens. It’s also firing in all territories. Earlier it was a little slow in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh because people were afraid of protests. That was on the first day. But by evening, the numbers started increasing. The South is also coming in with big numbers, not just the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, but they’re also coming for the original Hindi version because they want to hear Shah Rukh speaking in his original voice.” On the work front, Siddharth Anand is next directing Fighter headlined by Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. Prime Video on Wednesday confirmed that Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be starring alongside Varun Dhawan in the Indian installment of the Citadel universe, the global-event series from Prime Video and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO. The untitled Citadel series based out of India is being helmed by renowned creator duo Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), who are the showrunners and directors. The local installment is written by Sita R. Menon, along with Raj & DK. The streaming service also confirmed that the production is currently underway in Mumbai. After this, the unit will head to North India and then onwards to international locales like Serbia and South Africa. As previously announced, Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas will star in the first-to-launch series within the Citadel universe, which comes from the Russo Brothers’ AGBO along with David Weil and is set to premiere in 2023. Alongside Madden and Chopra Jonas, the first-to-launch Citadel series will also feature Stanley Tucci. Additional local-language Citadel productions are also in the works, including an Italian Original series starring Matilda De Angelis. “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Samantha once again. Tamil and English versions of the film were all released at the same time. Jyotika just finished production on Kaathal, her upcoming Malayalam film. In the movie, which will be helmed by Jeo Baby of The Great Indian Kitchen fame, Jyotika and Mammootty will work together for the first time. Back in March 2022, Netflix announced that Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma were coming together to star in Sujoy Ghosh's untitled film. The film marks the digital debut of Kareena. It is a screen adaptation of one of Keigo Higashino’s most acclaimed novel, “The Devotion of Suspect X”. Now, Kareena has wrapped the project. Speaking to Variety, Kareena Kapoor described the Sujoy Ghosh project as “dramatically different”. “For me, it’s very different because obviously you’re used to seeing me in all the mainstream movies, which has the song, the dance, the gloss, the glamour. Both these films (Sujoy Ghosh & Hansal Mehta’s next projects) are shockingly different,” Kareena said. The film follows the story of a “single mother and her daughter who commit a crime and a neighbor who helps them cover it up amidst a police investigation.” The film is produced by 12th Street Entertainment, Northern Lights Films in association with Boundscript and Kross Pictures and marks Kareena Kapoor Khan’s streaming debut. Sujoy Ghosh will be producing the film along with Jay Shewakramani, Akshai Puri, and Thomas Kim. On another note, the actress has also wrapped the Hansal Mehta directorial, which is reportedly titled The Buckingham Murders. The film marks her debut as a producer along with Ekta Kapoor. “I love ‘Mare of Easttown’ and when Hansal came to me, I said this is something that I’ve really been dying to do. So we’ve molded a little bit on those lines, she plays a detective cop in that,” Kareena told Variety. “It’s the first time that I’ve dabbled in that.” The actress also said that the film is 80 percent shot in English and 20 percent in Hindi. It was extensively filmed in the UK. “I speak fluently in Hindi and I think also in Hindi because that’s been what I’ve been doing all my life,” she added. “When you’re thinking in Hindi, but speaking in English, it was actually a difficult task to do because it was the reverse situation for the first time.” “I never really thought that I would be a producer. But when I heard this subject, and the fact that it’s very different to a regular Hindi movie… it’s a very different, take to things. So I thought that will be really nice and different,” Kapoor Khan said. “And when Ektaa and Hansal told me that, ‘since you love the script so much, why don’t you come on board as a creative producer as well, and take some calls as to what you think also and give your name to it’ – after much thought, I thought that if I love something so much, and this is a character that I wanted to play, I think it’s fun to do it. It’s the first time. I don’t know if I’ll repeatedly do it. But let’s see.” With this film, Kareena Kapoor Khan turns producer. Alka Yagnik is one of the female musicians with the most solo songs in Bollywood music history, having received seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer from 36 nominations and two National Film Awards. Today is no exception, as she has added another feather to her cap.  Alka Yagnik, a Bollywood playback singer, became the most watched artist on YouTube globally last year, with 15.3 billion YouTube streams in 2022, and an average of 42 million per day. According to Liberty Games research, Alka was the most watched artist on YouTube in 2021, with 17.7 billion streams, up from 16.6 billion in 2020. The Bollywood playback singer surpassed Bad Bunny (Puerto Rico), who earned 14.7 billion streams, as well as Taylor Swift, Blackpink, and BTS, among others.  South Korean superstars BTS received 7.95 billion streams and ranked sixth, while BLACKPINK received 7.29 billion streams and ranked eighth. Taylor Swift was ranked 26th with 4.33 billion streams, Drake was ranked 50th with 2.9 billion, and The Weeknd was ranked 13th with 5.7 billion. Udit Narayan is ranked third with 10.6 billion global YouTube listens, while Arijit Singh is ranked fourth with 10.2 billion streams. Kumar Sanu was the fifth most popular music artist in terms of YouTube play counts, just ahead of K-pop sensation BTS. Bhojpuri singer Khesari Lal Yadav came in seventh place, following BTS. Late playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, known as the "Nightingale of India," was ninth on the list, with Shilpi Raj rounding out the top ten. According to ChartMasters, nearly 25% of YouTube users are from India.  Alka Yagnik dominated the music industry in the 1990s and continues to do so today with her beautiful-cum-calming tunes. Anurag Kashyap expresses regret for turning down Sushant Singh Rajput's invitation to collaborate https://ift.tt/OjWKDQo

Anurag Kashyap recently made headlines where he expressed guilt over his public statement about his Dev.D actor Abhay Deol and privately about the late Sushant Singh Rajput. In an interview, Anurag accused Abhay of being difficult to work with, claiming that the actor insisted on staying in a five-star hotel separate from the rest of the cast and crew. Abhay had denied this.  Anurag had revealed shortly after Sushant's death that he had refused to speak with him about a project because he was resentful of being ghosted by the actor in the past. The filmmaker discussed his differences with Abhay and Sushant in a new interview with Showsha. He said, “It’s taken me a year-and-a-half of sickness to realise a lot of things. I was so reactive; I would say things. I would say things out of anger, out of reaction, to things I felt perturbed by. It took me time to realise that I’m shouting, I’m shouting in a room full of people shouting. Nobody’s listening to each other, not just to me. That’s what social media has become. And I stepped back. I said, ‘Why am I reacting to this? What is bothering me?'”  He further added, “A lot has changed, but I know I have no filter. But it’s also made me realise I don’t need to say everything… For example, that whole spat between me and Abhay. Somebody was doing an article about why a very good actor like Abhay is no longer in the movies, and I spoke about my experiences, something that happened 13 years ago. I didn’t need to say it publicly. And the day the unfortunate incident happened of SSR, I felt so bad. Three weeks prior to that somebody was trying to reach out because he wanted to talk, and I was like, ‘No, he ghosted me, I don’t want to talk’. You get pangs of guilt. So, I tried to reach out to Abhay and I apologised to him, because somebody had told me that he was upset about me speaking publicly about him.”  Anurag stated that he told Abhay that it was fine to yell at him and then apologised repeatedly for what he said. However, Abhay appeared to be upset about what Anurag had said about him as recently as last month. Abhay called the filmmaker a "liar" and a "toxic" person in an interview with mid-day. Anurag acknowledged that they had both changed and expressed regret for what he had said.  Anurag had stated in a 2020 interview with NDTV that he was disappointed that Sushant had backed out of projects with him in favour of more high-profile jobs. He stated, “YRF called him and said, ‘We’ll give you a deal. You do Shuddh Desi Romance.’ Sushant, who used to sit in my office with Mukesh and all of us used to sit together, signed up with YRF and dropped Hasee Toh Phasee, a film of an outsider because usko validation YRF ka chahiye tha (he wanted validation from YRF). It’s with every actor, so I am not holding any grudges… Years later, in 2016, before the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Mukesh went to Sushant and said, ‘Anurag has written a script looking for an actor who can play someone based out of Uttar Pradesh.’ Dhoni released, became a success and he never called me back. Karan Johar has written yet another comment about Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster film, Pathaan.  On Saturday, the filmmaker took to Instagram Stories and thanked everyone who collaborated on the film. He expressed his views on his Instagram Stories, “Nothing matters more than a great film. The mega blockbuster success proves that excessive promotions, fear of trolling, boycott threats, just about all the myths that we as an industry propagate or believe in is redundant when a film like PATHAAN kills all of it!!!! Jacqueline Fernandez receives permission to travel to Dubai from Delhi High Court https://ift.tt/YqWa3TO

Jacqueline Fernandez, who is currently being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate owing to her alleged involvement in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, has been granted the permission to travel abroad for professional commitments, albeit with certain conditions. The actress had earlier approached the Delhi Patiala High Court seeking the permit for travelling abroad to attend her scheduled performance for PepsiCo India conference where she was to perform at the Annual Bottlers Conference in Dubai. On Friday, the Delhi Patiala High Court granted permission to Jacqueline Fernandez to travel to Dubai after her counsel argued that the actress may face lawsuit from the brand for non-participation if she doesn’t make it to the conference. Considering the same, the court has granted her permission to travel but along with that it has also observed that it will come along with some conditions. Owing to the fact that the ED is still investigating the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case, for which, she has been named as a witnessed, the court has laid certain guidelines for the actress including a FDR of Rs. 1 crore, in case she doesn’t return. As per the court order, the actress is also expected to give a full disclosure of her stay details in Dubai including itinerary, arrival, and departure. In the past too, Jacqueline Fernandez had filed a plea seeking permission to travel but had withdrawn the same. While the counsel argued that the actress decided to cooperate in the investigation and decided against traveling for personal reasons, the current reason for her to insist on leaving for Dubai is because of the professional repercussions she may face if she doesn’t attend the event. On the other hand, the ED opposed it not only stating that the case is still under investigation but also pointing out that Jacqueline is a foreign national which increases the threat of her fleeing. After listening to both arguments, the court upheld its decision of allowing Fernandez to travel for the conference but keeping in mind the ongoing investigation of the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, the court has asked the actress to strictly adhere to the guidelines that have been laid down. For the unversed, Jacqueline Fernandez is being investigated for her alleged relationship with Sukesh Chandrashekhar. While the actress claims to be a victim of the conman, the Enforcement Directorate is investigating and has filed multiple chargesheets regarding the same. The SCO Council of Heads of States and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) had collaborated to organise the film festival. On the opening day of the festival, Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Hema Malini, and others received awards. In Mumbai for the festival's opening, Union Minister Thakur noted that the distinctions between regional and worldwide film have become more hazy and emphasised the importance of creating high-quality content that will be recognised on a global scale. He told reporters, "Somebody asked me about regional or how come it is an international thing here, nothing is regional today if the content has the power, it will go places, from regional to national to international. Keep making good content; there are no boundaries for good content. This (Appatha) is going to make great news at the box office and will be seen across the world." India is hosting the G20 Summit in 2023, and it also holds the SCO Presidency, according to the minister, making it a significant year for the country. He asserted that India and the SCO have close ties, and for many years, residents of the SCO's member countries have praised and adored Indian movies. "In one-year (these) big events are happening in India. And we have a lot of showcases, especially our rich cultural heritage, (and) we should only be proud of it. The world of cinema is incomplete without India and India is the largest filmmaking country and of late we are making right news, right noise at the international level," he added. The festival's mission, according to the minister, is to foster young filmmaker potential, foster relationships in the film industry, and function as a bridge between the cultures of this distinctive region. It also offers exchange programmes. When Thakur inquired about Akshay Kumar's readiness to appear in foreign movies, the 55-year-old actor responded, “I believe in being aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) and will do Hindustani films." On the other hand, Shroff asserted that he is open to acting in foreign films and that he thinks that cinema transcends all languages. He said, "Films transcends boundaries, it is a visual medium and creativity has no language. I am very happy to be here and be part of this event and celebrate Indian cinema and its growth, and of course world cinema and all the countries that have participated and showed their talent." Hema Malini asserted that a major factor in an actor's increasing notoriety outside of India is participation in film festivals. "Through the festival a lot can happen. Like, (for) SCO film festival, there is participation from Russia, China, Uzbekistan and other (countries), it is a good thing and the result will be good. Long ago, I acted in an Indo-Russian collaboration film, 'Alibaba Aur 40 Chor' and because of that many people know me (in that country)," the actress said. Last to last night was tough for the family of popular TV actor Shaheer Sheikh. For the unversed, on January 25, 2023, a massive fire broke out in the actor's building. Shaheer Sheikh's wife Ruchika Kapoor took to her verified social media handle and shared the details of the horrific incident. On a long note, Kapoor stated that she was at home with her 16-month-old daughter and parents and at around 1.30 am, she got a call that their building was on fire. However, after a lot of effort, the whole family was evacuated safely. Ruchikaa Kapoor thanked the firefighters and explained the incident in detail. She said that her father is wheelchair-bound while her daughter Anaya is just 16 months old. Given this, it was very difficult to get down the stairs from her 15th-floor apartment. Ruchikaa further added that Shaheer Sheikh and his brother-in-law along with firefighters came to rescue her. After a lot of effort, the whole family was evacuated till 5 in the morning. Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan is expected to earn around Rs 50 crores at the box office on its first day (yesterday). The film has succeeded in pulling large crowds into the cinema halls in such a way that it is expected to break the record of the highest opening for a Bollywood movie. But amidst such scenes, some Right Wing organizations held some protests against Pathaan in parts of Madhya Pradesh yesterday, as reported by NDTV. The film was under fire for the saffron coloured bikini worn by Deepika Padukone in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ as that colour is considered sacred by the Hindus. But the state’s Home Minister Narottam Mishra has said that there is no point in having any protests now as there have been “corrections” made in the film by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certifications). Speaking to a group of reporters, he said, “I believe all rectifications have been made in it (film). The Censor Board has made corrections. Controversial words have been removed. So, I don’t see any point in protesting now.” He also said that those who are still protesting against the movie will be “counselled,” added the same report by NDTV. Mishra, who is a part of the BJP, was one of the first persons to raise objections in Pathaan last month for the colour of the bikini in the said song. He had said then, “The outfits worn (by Deepika Padukone) in the song are objectionable. It is evident that this song has been picturized by polluted minds. Anyways, Deepika ji has been a supporter of the ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang; she attended the JNU protests. Despite it being a private affair, the couple and the Shetty family arrived to interact with the media post the wedding ceremony. And now the proud father has taken to social media, to share a heartfelt note about his daughter’s wedding.

In a recent post shared by Suniel Shetty, he also dropped some fatherly advice for his daughter about love and marriage saying, “A hand to hold and a reason to believe because sometimes the right place is a person and the ingredients love and trust … congratulations and Godbless my bachchas”. Athiya Shetty and K. L. Rahul, who have been in a relationship for about three years, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Khandala farmhouse owned by the Shetty family, on January 23.
