Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Movie Review Synopsis: BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3 is the story of a haunted palace. Ruhaan aka Rooh Baba (Kartik Aaryan) and Tillu (Arun Kushwah) live in Kolkata and con people by pretending to be ghostbusters. One day, they are caught red-handed by Meera (Triptii Dimri) and her uncle (Rajesh Sharma). They even record a video clip that exposes him. However, they allow him to go scot-free if he is ready to accompany them to their ancestral palace in Rakhtghat. Ruhaan reluctantly agrees. Once he reaches there, he meets Meera’s father Raja saab (Vijay Raaz) and the rest of the family, who are living in abject poverty in a stable. This is because the palace is haunted by the evil spirit of Manjulika. The priest of the family (Manish Wadhwa) informs Ruhaan that he’s the one who can free the palace of this evil spirit as he looks ditto like Raja Dibrendranath, who was killed by Manjulika in 1824. Ruhaan is not interested but he has no choice. But he starts enjoying his time in Rakhtghat after he’s hailed for being a lookalike of the prince. He and Meera also fall for each other. Sadly, his happiness is short-lived. Manjulika’s spirit gets free. On the other hand, two mysterious women – Mallika (Vidya Balan) and Mandira (Madhuri Dixit) – arrive at Rakhtghat and add to the madness. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Movie Story Review: Aakash Kaushik's story is impressive as it’s not cliched and has a lot of interesting plot points. Aakash Kaushik's screenplay is top-notch. The writing keeps viewers intrigued and invested in the proceedings. Aakash Kaushik's dialogues are witty and funny in equal doses.

Anees Bazmee's direction is splendid. He proved with BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 [2022] that he knows how to ace the horror comedy genre and he confirms this aspect in BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3. The scare element works big time and at the same time, he has made sure that the goings-on aren’t too scary and that it’s suitable for the family audience. He also keeps the proceedings light despite the presence of an evil ghost. However, what works big time is that Anees doesn’t lay out all his cards at the onset. He unravels the mystery gradually and hence, every 15-20 minutes, viewers will learn of a new development, which they wouldn’t have expected.

On the flipside, the humour quotient is lesser this time, especially when compared to BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2. On the other hand, there are too many songs. The film stagnates in the middle of the second half. The track of Vicky Khanna (Shataf Figar) is interesting but doesn’t land as intended.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3 begins on a solid note and Rooh Baba and Meera’s entry scenes are funny. The scene where Ruhaan learns about the poverty in the royal family will bring the house down. Mallika’s entry is dramatic while the intermission point is terrific. The second half also starts on a superb note. But the best is reserved for the finale. It’ll astonish the viewers as they won’t see the twist coming. The film ends on a dramatic and justified note.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Movie Review Performances: Kartik Aaryan is in top form and this time, he’ll surprise viewers with the range of his performance. His comic timing, like always, is spot-on and he looks quite dashing from start to finish. His dance moves are something to watch out for in this film. Vidya Balan gives a power-packed performance and succeeds in keeping her act mysterious. Madhuri Dixit has a late entry but she makes up for it with her screen presence, dance and performance. Triptii Dimri gets a bit overshadowed but manages to make a mark in some key scenes. She looks quite stunning in the scene where she wears a saree. Rajpal Yadav (Chota Pandit), Sanjay Mishra (Bada Pandit) and Ashwini Kalsekar (Panditain) raise laughs although in a few sequences, the writing could have been better. Rajesh Sharma and Vijay Raaz lend able support. Manish Wadhwa is very impressive and suits the part to the T. Arun Kushwah is fair while Shataf Figar does well, but his scene seems unwanted. Kanchan Mullick (Faulad Singh) and Denzil Smith (Maharaj in 1824) are decent.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 movie music and other technical aspects: The songs add to the glamour and entertainment value. The title track is peppy although the one in part 2 was better. 'Beiraada'is stunning while 'Hukkush Phukkush'is catchy. 'Jaana Samjho Na' is forced. Finally, 'Ami Je Tomar 3.0' is the soul of the film. Sandeep Shirodkar's background score is in sync with the happenings on screen.

Manu Anand's cinematography is breathtaking. Watch out for him the way he has shot Ladakh like never before. Manohar Verma's action is realistic. The late Rajat Poddarr's production design is stunning. Sheetal Sharma's costumes for Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri are stylish while Niharika Bhasin's costumes for the rest of the actors are appealing. RedChillies.VFX's VFX matches global standards. Sanjay Sankla's editing is functional.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Movie Review Conclusion: On the whole, BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3 is a well-made horror comedy which works due to its performances, taut script, creative execution and above all, an unpredictable climax which will leave viewers shocked. At the box office, the film will easily enter Bollywood’s 200 cr. club and has the potential to give a tough fight to the other Diwali biggie, SINGHAM AGAIN.

During the occasion of Diwali, a video found its way on social media where SRK seems to be explaining the importance of God to his kids. While the actor and his entrepreneur-wife have often come under the scanner for their inter-faith wedding, the video which is a short clip from the BBC documentary, the Inner World of Shah Rukh Khan showcases how Khan maintains a secular environment within his home.

The sweet video which was a part of the 2004 documentary features the Diwali celebration at Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s residence, where the couple seems to be busy teaching their children the value of God and also about each other’s culture. Along with showcasing a glimpse of Mannat which looked much simpler then, features Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan talking to a priest along with the actor telling him that his children will do the ‘Diwali pooja’. At the same time, he also taught them about Quran and how he prays, showcasing the religious unity and secularism in his household.

In the video, the actor is seen explaining how religion is followed in his house as he shared, "Children should know about value of God, whether it's a Hindu god or a Muslim god. So, next to Ganesh and Laxmi, we have the Quran also. We put our hands together and say the Gayatri Mantra, which my son says, and I say 'bismillah' with him. It makes me feel very emotional, where I'm teaching my children something that I also don't know very well. I'm not a great follower of religion. I believe in Allah very strongly, but I was never forced by my parents to read the namaz five times a day."

As the video continued to showcase how the children prayed and showcased their respect towards both religions and customs, he went on to add, "To me, it's very important to have a Diwali in the house, Eid in the house. We e do Christmas, we put up the tree. The kids enjoy that the most, really."

During tough times, the actor shared that he feels his best when he keeps himself creatively engaged, rather than mentally drained by "what-ifs."

In the same interview, Vicky shared that he is curious to explore film direction. He mentioned that he finds it fascinating to see different approaches in filmmaking. However, he is not sure if he would take that step right now, but he is “definitely intrigued.”

Vicky Kaushal's last appearance was in Bad Newz, a romantic comedy directed by Anand Tiwari and featuring Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk, though it didn’t achieve the expected box office results. Veteran film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, gave an interesting trivia related to Amitabh Bachchan. He was talking in the context of the negativity on social media during box office clashes between two big films – in this case Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which are slated to release on November 1.

Taran said, “46 years ago, a film named Kasme Vaade releases. Amitabh Bachchan’s success was sky high at that time. The film also had Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Rakhee. Ramesh Behl, who is Goldie Behl’s father, had made this film. The next Friday a film called Besharam releases. It had Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and Deven Verma, the great character actor, was the director.”

He added, “In the third week comes Yash Chopra’s multi-starrer, which had Sanjeev Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, Trishul. It was written by Salim-Javed, who are also big superstars. So, Kasme Vaade, Besharam and Trishul all had Amitabh Bachchan. Wait, then on the fourth Friday releases Don. It has Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, and (writers) Salim-Javed again and Chandra Barot was the director. On all four Fridays four Amitabh Bachchan’s films release, out of which Besharam performed average but the other three run for 50, 75 or 100 weeks.”

Taran pointed out that despite this, there was no negativity back then. “Clashes used to happen,” he said. “I have never heard anyone from any of these films utter one negative word for the other film. There were also no fights on someone wanting one theatre and (saying things like) why you are releasing now. Even Amitabh Bachchan never put any pressure that his four films are releasing in four weeks, although he was number 1 to number 10.”

He said that something like this is unthinkable today. “Can you imagine in today’s times that Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan releases this Friday, Jawan releases on the next Friday, Dunki releases on third Friday and in the fourth week maybe King releases? We can’t imagine but at that time it happened,” he said.

Taran added that all this was accepted practice back then. “The industry had accepted that these films will come, and you won’t be able to avoid it,” he said. “There are more examples where they have clashed and there was no negativity, partly also because there was no social media in those days. The media used to write. There used to be media in those days, which was aggressive also. But there was no negativity.”

Explaining the grim situation today, Taran said, “Today I see people celebrating (someone’s) failure instead of celebrating someone’s happiness. We form groups and clans. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently was seen appreciating the film world and its contributions to Indian Cinema as he recently got together with some of the prominent names from the industry to celebrate the work of the late Nageswara Rao Akkineni.

At the ceremony, which was hosted by Nagarjuna and the rest of the Akkineni family, saw Amitabh Bachchan felicitating Chiranjeevi for his immense contribution to the industry. Besides that, the megastar also gave a heartfelt speech wherein he extended his gratitude towards Brahmastra co-star Nagarjuna and he said, “I want to express my gratitude to Nag, the foundation, and the entire family for bringing to life a colossus that we have had the privilege to observe on this earth of Telugu cinema and indeed the entire film industry.” Besides this, Amitabh Bachchan also shared a special post about the event on the social media platform X.

He went on to continue and recite words from one of the most popular works of his father and renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. “In it, he speaks of how his friends tell him he must write a will stating what he plans to leave for his sons, as nowadays a son often needs to go to court to prove he is his father’s son,” he explained. He went on to quote the powerful lines: “Mere bete, bete hone se mere uttaradhikari nahi honge. Jo mere uttaradhikari honge, woh mere bete honge (Being born as my son, doesn’t make you my heir. The one who is my true heir is my son). Nag, you and your family have proven that you are the true inheritors of this great personality”, he added.

EXCLUSIVE: Sujoy Ghosh reveals that he once wrote a letter to Satyajit Ray, asking for a job: “He replied, ‘I, myself, am looking for a job’” https://ift.tt/nroQTBI

The Bollywood Hungama India Entertainment Awards 2024 were held earlier this month, on October 3 and 4 in Mumbai and became one of the most talked about events of the year. Sujoy Ghosh won the award for Best Director for Jaane Jaan (2023). Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma, it was one of the biggest hits for Netflix last year. Just before he grabbed the award, Sujoy spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about his debut OTT film and a lot more.

You have made films for theatres but Jaane Jaan released directly on Netflix. How was your experience? Jaane Jaan for me was a novel experience; it was new because we are born out of cinema. But the kind of reach the film had was astonishing. I didn’t expect it, honestly. It reached unexpected regions of the world. It’s not that I was flooded with the feedback or anything. But I did get messages from places like America; I had never got such feedback from there before. I have got fan letters which were handwritten!

Do you mean they wrote a letter, clicked a picture of it and sent it to you on social media? No. They wrote it and then posted it to my office. It was a nice surprise. The last handwritten letter I got was when I was going out with my girlfriend, who’s now my wife.

This is great because streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, etc. take your film to places. You do miss the big-screen experience. But at least, there’s less pressure, on the positive side. You don’t have to think of box office numbers. Of course, there’s some pressure; there’s a certain viewership which you do need to get. That’s fine. At the end of the day, it’s commerce, right? So yes, the pressure is there but not as blatant and it’s a good, fun experience.

Did you reply to the handwritten fan letter? I did. Before this episode, I had written a letter to one person, asking for a job. And he replied to me. That person was Satyajit Ray (smiles). At one point, I wanted to be a technician in his film. Hence, I asked him to offer me a job. He replied, ‘I, myself, am looking for a job’ (laughs)! I still have that letter. He further said, ‘I am a director. I am hand-for-hire myself. Unfortunately, I can’t help you’. It was so nice that he actually took the time to type out that letter. And he signed it. I have a signature of Satyajit Ray in English; it’s very rare! He used to usually sign in Bangla.

In which year did this fascinating episode take place? This happened in 1988.

Did you ever get a chance to meet him before his death in 1992? No, but I got a chance to meet his son, Sandip Ray. I also made Anukul, which is based on a story by Satyajit Ray. All of my films, in fact, have some Ray influence.

Satyajit Ray created the iconic detective character of Feluda. Many feel that you’ll be the ideal person to make a film or show on Feluda. The last time, I asked you about it, you said that you feared that if you got it wrong, fans of the character won’t spare you… Zinda latka denge (laughs). On a serious note, Feluda's stories were really amazing for us when we were growing up but that world doesn’t exist anymore. You have to rejig it, the way they did it with Sherlock Holmes on BBC. However, I don’t know if it’ll work.

You mean to say it should be set in the 1960s or 70s and not in the present day, right? Yes, and many other factors. Hence, one should take into account all those things or else, one should not make it.

Did you ever think about giving a limited release for Jaane Jaan, the way it was done for the Netflix original, The Irishman (2019)? After all, Jaane Jaan had a cinematic appeal… I haven’t really thought about it. But I guess a one-week release is done in cinemas for the Oscars. As per their guidelines, you need to have your film on the big screen for a certain time to be eligible. I remember I was enraged at how Roma (2018) got an Oscar nomination as it was a Netflix release. But then I was reminded that it did come in cinemas. I had to apologize!

I guess that’s the reason even All We Imagine As Light was released in limited theatres in Kerala so that it’s eligible to be seen as India’s entry to the Oscars… Exactly.

Have you seen the film? Yes. One of the producers, Zico Maitra, started his career with me. He was one of those people who we couldn’t pay during Kahaani(2012) and yet, he worked with me throughout the process.

I loved All We Imagine As Light and was moved by it. It’s a simple story and such tales are the hardest to tell. There’s no crutch – it has pure acting and emotion, just like Laapataa Ladies (2024). I fell in love with it. I called up Kiran Rao after watching the film. I wondered – how do they get scripts like this?

Some people feel that All We Imagine As Light should have been sent as India’s official entry to the Oscars and not Laapataa Ladies… I don’t know and you can’t argue with it. The Oscar jury has people from across the country. I would have liked it if All We Imagine As Light was the official selection as it's closer to my heart. But then Laapataa Ladies is such a lovely film too. It reeks of India and the mitti ki khushboo. And it’s also beautifully told. I get jealous when I see such films.

You made a lovely underrated show for Netflix, Typewriter (2019). I was impressed by the opening credits… I am glad you liked it. We worked so hard on that (smiles).

Will there be a season 2 of Typewriter? Monika Shergill (Netflix’s India content VP) is coming today. You should ask them this question.

Any more projects for Netflix? I am sure they must have reached out to you after the grand success of Jaane Jaan… I am a little tied down right now. After I am done with my current assignment, I’ll talk about it.

Rajpal Yadav, known for his numerous memorable and humorous roles, is set to return as the fan-favorite character Chota Pandit for the third time in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

Rajpal Yadav’s spot-on comic timing has made Chota Pandit an unforgettable character. Despite cast changes and shifting storylines, Chota Pandit continues to be a consistent and charming part of the series.

In an interview with ANI, Rajpal Yadav spoke about the evolution of his character, Chota Pandit, since the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007. Chota Pandit, the only character to first encounter Manjulika (Vidya Balan), was profoundly changed by that experience, leaving a lasting impact on audiences.

Yadav appeared in both the original 2007 Bhool Bhulaiyaa with Akshay Kumar and its 2022 sequel with Kartik Aaryan. Now, he is set to return as Chota Pandit in the third installment, discussing his character in greater depth. He said, “He isn't just a character but a caricature, a comic archetype. In our Indian culture, Bharat Muni's ‘Natya Shastra’ envisioned such characters, like sutradhaar and vidushak. Chota Pandit embodies that, a character who mocks no one but himself, providing comic relief in the story.”

He added, “You've seen him in different hues--red in the first film and white in the second to protect himself from fire. Now, he appears covered in sandalwood paste to cleanse himself of all negativity, bringing a fresh, humorous dimension.”

Rajpal Yadav is excited to collaborate with Kartik Aaryan once more after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. “We have a strong bond, and working with him has been a delightful experience filled with unforgettable moments,” he said.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Bhushan Kumar, continues the franchise’s signature mix of horror and comedy.

The film features Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, and Triptii Dimri, making it a highly awaited Diwali release. Madhuri’s addition to the cast has fueled excitement among fans, especially after her intense face-off with Vidya in the iconic ‘Ami Je Tomar 3.0’ sequence.

10 Years of Haider: How ‘Bismil’ sparked a tourism boom at Martand Sun Temple; haunting song from Shahid Kapoor-starrer also holds a Sanjeev Kumar connection https://ift.tt/jATWFvi

The acclaimed film Haider (2014) completed 10 years on October 2. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu and Kay Kay Menon, it is considered one of the finest films by director Vishal Bhardwaj. It is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello and is set in Kashmir where a young student goes on a path of self-destruction after his father is murdered. One of the most memorable parts of the film is when Shahid Kapoor performs the haunting song ‘Bismil’. The song was shot at Martand Sun Temple in Kashmir and thanks to this film, this historical place became widely popular among tourists. It’s a great example of how film tourism can impact tourism positively.

This piece of information was shared by Vishal Bhardwaj when he attended the Tourism Development Enclave in Srinagar earlier this year. Along with Vishal, prominent film personalities like Imtiaz Ali, Kabir Khan and Sanjay Suri also graced this event. Here, Vishal Bhardwaj revealed that ‘Bismil’ led to a spike in the footfalls at Martand Sun Temple. The filmmaker further said that the increase in tourist activity prompted the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) to remove encroachments from the site.

The Martand Sun Temple is located around 10 km away from the town of Anantnag in Kashmir and was constructed in the eighth century BC.

‘Bismil’ was penned hauntingly by Gulzar and interestingly, this is the second song of the acclaimed lyricist to be shot in Martand Sun Temple. His much loved song ‘Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi Shikwa Toh Nahi’ from his directorial venture Aandhi (1975), featuring Suchitra Sen and Sanjeev Kumar, was incidentally also shot in the same place.

Coming back to 'Bismil', the song has also been loved for the thought behind it. Vishal Bhardwaj, in a recent interview with The Times of India, revealed his inspiration behind the visuals of the track, “We created this song like a mousetrap where Shahid performs a play within a play. I wanted to create our own ‘Ek Hasina Thi Ek Deewana Tha’ moment in my way for Hamlet (laughs). Karz (1980) had a similar situation where Rishi Kapoor performed in front of Simi Garewal about the murder.”

‘Bismil’ helped choreographer Sudesh Adhana win the National Award. On this, Vishal said, “I used long, oversized puppets by Dadi Pudumjee, a great puppeteer, and he introduced me to Sudesh. I worked with them for two months in Paris, and right after that, I started shooting Haider. I brought all the sensibilities I learned during the opera, working with Dadi Pudumjee and Sudesh. It was so unconventional, so un-Bollywood-like. I'm saying this and I belong to Bollywood. And Sudesh won a National Award for that choreography.”

The song has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh. In The Times of India interview, Vishal Bhardwaj revealed, “Sukhwinder ko bahut khula gaane ki aadat hai - he's used to improvise a lot - but I told him, 'Is gaane mein track pe gaana padega, this is like an opera. We are telling a story in it'. Itna khoobsurat Gulzar sahab ne likha hai. I had only given him the phrase ‘Bismil Bismil Bulbule Bismil’, and from that, he wrote an entire epic. He’s a master.”

The official social media handle of Sony Entertainment Television garnered immense eyeballs earlier this week as it teased audiences by dropping an announcement clip marking the return of their iconic television series CID. The show went off air much to the disappointment of fans about a few years ago, after airing on television for over two decades. Now its return has sparked much excitement and adding to the same, the makers dropped an intriguing promo which has piqued interest of fans.

As CID is set to make a thrilling return on Sony Entertainment Television, bringing back its beloved cast of characters, which is Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman, Dayanand Shetty as Inspector Daya, and Aditya Srivastava as officer Abhijeet. While the promo asserts their return it packs an unimaginable punch that has left fans shocked. Abhijeet and Daya, once inseparable friends, now stand as sworn enemies. The promo leaves us with the question – “Jo desh ke liye hamesha saath mein lade hai, aaj dushman ban kyun aamne saamne khade hai? Abhijeet ne Daya ko kyun maara (The warriors who fought together for the country, why have they become sworn enemies? Why did Abhijeet shoot Daya)?

Fans have been celebrating the return of the show and were seen thanking the makers for reviving their childhood memories again. Many of them, however, were saddened by the absence of the late Dinesh Phadnis who played the much-loved officer Frederick in the show.

Meanwhile, Shivaji Satam, who essays the role of ACP Pradyuman, have reacted to the show making a comeback and added, “In this edition of the show, the Daya-Abhijeet bond, once unbreakable, has snapped and the two are standing opposite each other. The very foundation of CID is shaken, and ACP Pradyuman's world will be turned upside down. It feels surreal to return as ACP Pradyuman after six years, a character that has received so much love and we promise a thrilling ride filled with suspense, and heart-stopping drama!"

Confessing the same, filmmaker-producer Advani confessed that the relationship he shared with Johar was quite different when school mates. The Vedaa director confessed that he would bully KJo, who is now the head honcho of Dharma Productions.

In an interview with Cyrus Broacha, Nikkhil Advani discussed his journey with Karan Johar and shared his surprise when the filmmaker approached him to assist him in his debut directorial. “Karan [Johar] meets me and says, ‘Will you hear my script?’ and I say sure, and he goes, ‘I have only written half,’ and I say no problem. I go to his house… He then narrated the script, and I said it was very good, it was superb. He said, ‘Will you assist me?’ which is quite weird because I used to bully him in school. Because he was red house and I was green house and I was a batch holder.”, Advani confessed.

Furthermore, the filmmaker mentioned that Kjo was bullied quite a bit at that time but also pondered on how the tables have changed now. “I bullied him a lot. Everybody used to bully Karan, it was unfortunate. Now today he can bully all of us! So yeah, we started working on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.”, he added.

Speaking about Karan Johar and Nikkhil Advani, the duo worked together for several years but had a fallout in 2007 while completing Shah Rukh Khan starrer Kal Ho Naa Ho which was written by Johar but directed by Advani. However, the two filmmakers are expected to be a happier space right now and is expected to have extended an olive branch to each other.

Currently, while Nikkhil is busy with his directorials and productions under his banner Emmay Entertainment, Karan Johar too is focusing on multiple projects under banners Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment.

Speaking of Singham Again, the film marks the return of Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham and is the third film of the cop-action franchise, and the fifth film in the ambitious Rohit Shetty copverse. The movie will feature Kareena Kapoor Khan as the leading lady, Arjun Kapoor as the antagonist along with Tiger Shroff, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, and Jackie Shroff in key roles. It is slated to release on November 1.

As for Bigg Boss 18, the reality show airs from Monday to Friday at 10 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 pm on Colors.

Director Raam Reddy’s stunning and cinematic labour of love, The Fable starring Manoj Bajpayee has been awarded the Special Jury Prize in the South Asia Competition at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024. Its Asia premiere was held last week at MAMI. Announcing the award, filmmaker Kabir Khan described the film as a polished and imaginative film, showcasing the director's ambitions.

Ram Reddy is currently in Spain for another film festival, and hence couldn’t stay for MAMI’s closing ceremony. But, his father, Producer Pratap Reddy read a message on behalf of the team and said, “We would like to thank MAMI for this wonderful opportunity to showcase our film at such a passionate and exciting festival. Our team worked from the heart, overcoming many challenges to bring this dream to the screen. We are deeply humbled and grateful for this recognition. The MAMI audience, in many ways, was our first audience, and we consider ourselves lucky to have received your support. Thank you all for making this dream come true.”

Director Raam Reddy said, “It feels beautiful; like a full circle! In a recent interaction, the veteran actor stated that the film did not respect Hindus and how it aimed at making a Muslim look like a hero as he takes over the Indian women’s hockey team.

Referring to how the character of Kabir Khan, played by Shah Rukh Khan, was inspired by the real-life hockey coach Mir Ranjan Negi, Annu Kapoor was quoted telling ANI, “The main character in Chak De! India is based on a famous coach, Negi Saab. But in India, they want to show a Muslim as a good character and make fun of a Pandit (Hindu priest). This is something old, where they use the idea of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb (Hindu-Muslim unity) to put a label on it."

For the unversed, Chak De! India was produced under the Yash Raj Films banner with Shah Rukh Khan in the leading role, with over ten actresses and sports players playing key roles in the sports drama. The film revolves around a renowned Muslim hockey player, who is labelled as a traitor after losing a match against Pakistan. While he decides to prove to the nation his loyalty, he decides to take up the challenging task of training the Indian National hockey team who was not taken seriously by authorities.

It is based on the short story ‘Salaam Noni Appa’ written by Twinkle Khanna. She has also produced the film and stars Dimple Kapadia in the lead. Akshay graced the premiere to cheer for his family. The others present at the premiere were actors Manav Kaul and Rohan Mehra, director Sonal Dabral and fellow producers Sameer Nair, Atul Kasbekar and Tanuj Garg. A short Q-and-A session followed after the film screening. Akshay Kumar didn’t come on stage to attend the screening but he raised laughs when he asked for the microphone to ask a question.

The audience hooted and clapped when Akshay offered to ask a question. Someone commented that he was awake past his bedtime. Akshay Kumar took the microphone and said, “Hello, it’s my wife’s film. I am supposed to be awake!”

He then asked, “My question is to the producer – when is the next show? I couldn’t watch the film properly because my wife was sitting next to me. Baar baar koni maar maar ke, she was asking me, ‘Kaisi lag rahi hai film?’, ‘Kaisi lag rahi hai film?’! I couldn’t watch the film properly. Hence, I want to know when the next show will be. I want to see the whole film (properly).”

Annu Kapoor who played her fifth husband Inspector Keemat Lal in the movie, recalled the shooting of the movie and revealed that PC was uncomfortable with their kissing scene.

In a podcast with ANI, Annu Kapoor recalled the incident where Vishal Bhardwaj told him about Priyanka Chopra not being comfortable with the intimate scene. While Annu asked Vishal to change the scene, the latter, however, remained insistent on it. “Vishal Bhardwaj told me that she is being shy. I told him, ‘If she’s uncomfortable, remove the scene’. But he said, ‘Why should I remove the scene? It’s important’. I’m a serious man, I don’t enjoy joking around on set. I got over with the combined shots. When it came to my solo shots, even assistants were impressed how I managed to perform them,” Annu stated in the podcast.

He went on to share that the actress may not have been this uncomfortable if he was a quintessential hero. “It’s obvious to me that Priyanka Chopra would’ve had no objection had I been the hero. Here I am, no personality, no looks, that’s why she had a problem. This made her very upset, I don’t know why,” he added.

In the past, Priyanka Chopra had shared her anger over a few comments made by Annu Kapoor regarding doing intimate scenes with the actress in the Vishal Bhardwaj thriller. “If he wants to do intimate scenes and pass such cheap comments, then he should do those kind of films. Such scenes were never part of our film,” she said, adding, “I don’t think he knew that his comments would upset me. But, his statements have really upset me. It was very wrong of him to speak the way he did.”, she had told Hindustan Times in 2011.

According to Salman’s close friend, “Abhi kuchh nahin kaha jaa sakta hai. Sikandar requires a whole lot of choreographed action. Director Murugadoss needed Salman’s full attention. But right now, that seems impossible. The way ahead is still very unclear. Right now, the most important thing is Salman and his family’s safety. That won’t be compromised under any circumstance.”

Salman Khan has a cameo in the Varun Dhawan starrer Baby John, which is being talked about. Reports of Salman shooting for his special cameo in Baby John have spread like wildfire. These may be shortly countermanded by his inability to participate due to security reasons.

“Post the slaying of Baba Siddiqui, Salman Khan has cancelled all his engagements for now. The cops have advised him to stay as much out of the public eye. So, for now, no engagements,” a filmmaker close to both the Khans told this writer.

The situation in the Hindi film industry is currently volatile. “Kab kya ho jayega, kuchh pataa nahin. Those days of uncertainty are back,” said an insider.

Nearly a year ago, 12th Fail (2023) was released and it took lead actor Vikrant Massey to another level. And if all goes well, his stardom and boost value will get yet another boost. Bollywood Hungama has learned that he is in advanced talks to play the lead role in an international thriller inspired by an episode from the life of global spiritual leader and humanitarian Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Vikrant Massey is one of the most versatile actors of today’s times and the makers felt that he’ll be ideal to play the main lead. Vikrant, too, was very excited when he was offered the part and was very thankful that he was considered for it. The talks between the actor and the makers are in advanced stages.”

The film in question draws inspiration from the remarkable life of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a global spiritual leader and humanitarian known for his unwavering commitment to peace. It will focus on Gurudev’s successful intervention in Colombia's brutal 52-year civil war, resolving the conflict without resorting to violence.

The source added, “The film will be made in English and Spanish and is meant for for a global audience; it'll dubbed in various international and Indian languages. It focuses on how one of the biggest internal conflicts of the world was resolved by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the aid ancient Indian wisdom. The supporting cast and crew will mainly comprise acclaimed and Academy award-winning people from Los Angeles, USA and Colombia. Moreover, renowned filmmakers will also be presenting this big-budget, ambitious film in different countries.”

The film is produced by Siddharth Anand and Mahaveer Jain. The source also revealed, “It is written by ace advertising director and writer Montoo Bassi and he'll be aided by international script writers and script doctors. He researched for almost 4 years. Interestingly, Vikrant Massey also met Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar sometime back.” The pictures of their meeting is out on social media.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who also runs one of the largest volunteer-based organisations, Art Of Living, held the World Cultural Festival in Washington DC, USA earlier this year. This historic gathering brought together millions from over 180 countries, showcasing the power of unity and peaceful coexistence. The film serves as a continuation of this message, echoing the Indian philosophy of "One World One Family" and Gurudev's unwavering dedication to non-violence.

Earlier in the day, Rakul shared a light-hearted post, writing, “Bed rest wala first Karwa Chauth.” This was a reference to her ongoing recovery from a back injury, which she recently spoke about in a message to her fans. Rakul Preet's Health Update Rakul had shared an update on her health earlier this month, revealing that she had suffered a back spasm while performing an 80 kg deadlift during her workout routine. In a candid video message, she reassured her fans that she would “bounce back stronger.” 

"Hi, my lovely people. Well, here is a little health update. I did something very stupid. I did not listen to my body. I had a spasm, kept pushing it, and it turned into a major injury. I have been on the bed for the last six days. I think it will take another week or so for me to fully recover. I really hope I recover faster than that because it is not easy for me to give in and rest," Rakul said in her video.

Despite the setback, Rakul's positive energy and determination have been evident throughout her recovery process. Her fans are eagerly awaiting her full recovery so she can get back to her routine.

Bollywood STUNNED as Bihar offers HIGHEST film subsidy of up to Rs. 4 cr; Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra applaud the GAME-CHANGING move https://ift.tt/tU30HVd

The Bihar Film Conclave 2024 was held on October 18 at Taj City Centre, Patna and has become a talking point in the industry. It was graced by several industry personalities, especially those who have their roots in Bihar. Bihar deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Development commissioner of Bihar, Chaitanya Prasad, secretary of art and culture department, Dayanidhan Pandey, and general manager of Bihar State Film Development & Finance Corporation, Rahul Kumar, also graced their presence.

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke with Rahul Kumar to understand the salient features of this policy. He told us, “It is called the Bihar Film Promotion Policy and it was introduced in July. In the first week of October, we approved the operational guidelines.”

He added that, “We have started the single window clearance system for shoot permissions, subsidy, NOCs, etc.” He further said, “We are giving the highest subsidy in the country. For feature films, we have three slabs for subsidy. If any producer is making his or her first film, depending on the number of shooting days, we’ll give a subsidy between Rs. 2 to 4 crores. Along with this subsidy amount, if a film is promoting Bihar in a positive way, we’ll provide an additional Rs. 50 lakhs.”

Rahul Kumar also stated, “If the top 3 artists of the film are from Bihar, then additional Rs. 25 lakhs will be given while an additional Rs. 10 lakhs will be given if 5 tier-2 artists are cast in the film. This is our way of incentivizing filmmakers to cast our talented local actors. There are also incentives if films are made in Bhojpuri, Maithili and Magahi, which are widely spoken in the state.”

The facilities are not just limited to the theatrical medium. Rahul Kumar said, “For web series, we are giving subsidy up to Rs. 3 crores. The only conditions are that Bihar should not be portrayed in a negative light and that the content should not be only for adults. It should have a universal appeal. As for TV shows, we are granting subsidy up to Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 25 lakhs additional if Bihar artists are cast. For documentaries, Rs. 30 lakhs will be provided and if it’s an international production, we are giving grants up to Rs. 40 lakhs.”

If you think that’s all, you are mistaken. Rahul Kumar continued, “If any studio wants to set up a lab or any post-production or animation facility in Bihar, we’ll reimburse up to Rs. 1.25 crore. If any student from Bihar is enrolled into the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), National School of Drama (NSD) or Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI), we’ll cover their tuition fees completely. We have already started getting applications for it.”

The policy also takes into account the plight of the exhibition sector. Rahul Kumar explained, “For old, shut down single screens, we’ll help with its renovation. The guidelines for it will be introduced very soon.”

Talking about the Bihar Film Conclave 2024, he said, “We invited IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association) chairman Abhay Sinha. He is from Bihar. Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan, Akhilendra Mishra, Pankaj Jha, Aseem Bajaj, Vineet Kumar, and others were also present. We told them about these incentives and assured them of full support if they came to Bihar to shoot. We told them that we’d also give them the list of beautiful shooting locations, accommodation options, transport, etc.”

The three stalwarts from Bihar – Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi and Sanjay Mishra – couldn’t make it but they sent their good wishes through a video message, which was played at the event. In the video, Manoj Bajpayee said, “I hope all filmmakers make good use of the facilities provided as it will play a huge role in boosting the film scene in Bihar.”

Pankaj Tripathi explained, “I am hopeful that thanks to this initiative, a lot of untold stories from Bihar and beautiful locations of the state will be depicted on screen. Ek film friendly mahaul bhi banega.” He added, “Bihar ki masaumiyat abhi cinema ne dekhi hi kahan hai!”

Lastly, Sanjay Mishra said, “Bihar ka cinema badhega toh Bihar badhega!”

Shabana Azmi had an interesting conversation with Vidya Balan at a masterclass held at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 on October 19. Shabana Azmi, who completes 50 years as an actor this year, spoke about her fascinating journey. What is remarkable is that Shabana Azmi did work in art films but at the same time, she was a part of mainstream films like Manmohan Desai’s Parvarish (1977), Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Prakash Mehra's Jwalamukhi (1980), etc.

Vidya Balan asked her about her experience of working in such films. Shabana Azmi replied, “I used to have a ball. I surrender to the director because there's no point. If I would ask Manmohan Desai, 'Iska kya matlab hai?', he would reply, 'Iska kuch matlab nahin hai. Main bol raha hoon yeh hai iska matlab. Yeh Satyajit Ray ki picture nahin hai'! When a director is so convinced about it, you are just happy to surrender.”

She added, “On the other hand, in arthouse cinema, everything is so realistic. Hindi cinema, meanwhile, used to operate in an alternate reality. It didn't matter that if you were a policeman, your house would look no different from that of a rich businessman. It didn't matter! Chahe aap businessman hai ya policeman, aapke dressing table pe ek Pond's ka powder hoga, ek cold cream hoga aur ek gandi si kangi hogi! I used to go crazy (on seeing these items). They used to use a white, maili si chaadar jo aapko odhni hoti thi.”

She continued, “It was left to art cinema to go into the details.”

While talking about Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), Shabana Azmi revealed, “I really enjoyed working on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. In the very first scene, I had an open hair. I was given this ridiculously long wig. My hair was on one side and I was wearing a silk saree while making machi kadhi. I asked Karan Johar, ‘Which Bengali woman wears a silk saree and opens her hair and all that?’! He replied, ‘In Karan Johar’s film, she does. Don’t ask any questions. Just go ahead’ (laughs)!”

The blockbuster duo revealed how the cult line ‘Ata Majhi Satakli’ became iconic and discussed how the Singham Again cast came together for this highly anticipated family entertainer.

During the interaction, Rohit was asked about the popular dialogue and how it became a sensation over the years. He said: “Genuinely, we had just written those characters - Singham and the villain Jaykant Shikre (played by Prakash Raj), in Maharashtrian. It became an iconic line! He just says that line once in the film, otherwise it is told by the villain. We never thought… for us it was just a line! Again a language which everybody says now! We never thought about it that way.”

Ajay added, “In that moment it was just a line! There are many lines and nobody knows at that time what comes after. While doing it, that was just a line and then it became a cult line.”

The film features Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Deepika Padukone, and Tiger Shroff.

The film will release on November 1, 2024.
